Another Beautiful Evening

I know that I complain A LOT about the hour long drive to and from work. I know that this is only temporary, and that someday I will be back to my shorter route. Instead of complaining, I really need to appreciate the wonder of the landscape around me, because too many times I see things that are breathtaking, yet, do not appreciate them to their fullest. When you are bored with a long drive, try to find some beauty in the landscape around you.

I was driving down Highway N, heading towards my mother's home in Schofield. Jamming to some tunes, I actually took a moment to take in the scene before me. The sunset tonight was a literal rainbow of color. It actually made me wonder if every sunset is a full palette of color? I'm not sure I've ever noticed this before.

On the farthest horizon in front of me, the red was incredibly deep and dark. It reminded me of the deep colored bricks on our old farmhouses. That color mingled into a burnt orange, which burst into a brightly colored fire in the sky. The reds and oranges faded into a subtle yellow that fought for its own brightness in the mix. As the yellow escaped from the fiery reds and oranges it took on a beautiful canary color of its own, and gradually moved forward into a beautiful lemon-lime hue. As the yellow melded into green, it took me by surprise how hard it was to see the green, once you discovered it, it was difficult to miss. By itself, the green reminded me of the perfect green color crayon, that I, as a child, would always choose for coloring the bright grass and silly looking trees. Beautifully, the green faded nicely into the light blue that seemed to surround my van on all sides. I took care when I looked behind me to observe the light blue being overwhelmed by a deep indigo, dotted ever so slightly with a single star. Trailing the indigo was a slight strip of violet that was being eaten ravenously by the inky black of the night that so swiftly took away the glorious color of this evening's setting sun.

This spectacle was short lived, but definitely a divine occurrence, that I hope to someday witness again. Amazing what you notice when your not looking.

I hope everyone takes time to look around them, because too often we allow moments like this to slip past in the hustle of our lives.

As always, wishing you Love, Happiness and Pethair!!

Shannon
